Of course things do not go as I expect!

So here are my bodice pieces.  WHY, OH WHY! do they not match up! Are they suppose to match up?! Am I over thinking it?

THis is if I line the sides up...then the shoulders are off.

This is when I line up the shoulders and sides.  Note how it bunches up.  Should it do that?

This is when I line the shoulders up.

Yes, Stacye...I'm going to try my muslin back on bc it did the same thing and I will look to see how it fits.  I figured that might be your next suggestion.
Ok..its no big deal.  It can be fixed I am sure. :-)

2 projects part two

Here is the picture of the pillow in the car with the cutest little boy I have ever seen.  Special thanks to his mom for loaning him out to me ;-).  It may be too full.  It didn't last long snuggled up to him.  He threw in on the floor about 5 minutes down the road.

OK...here is my bodice with the zipper in...that evolution didn't go so bad..but I'm not showing you.  Anyway.  What do you think of the dart? Placed ok? I think I am going to add about 1 1/2 inch to the length.  I think the fit otherwise is ok considering it is suppose to be snug.

2 Projects!

I made the muslin for me Bebe dress and think there might be a few things I need to change.  I was hoping to get by but oh well. Please note that the neckline is a V and it should not be.  Hmmm

Second project is the seatbelt pillow...in minky.  Minky has become one of those fabrics that I prefer to not work with but I will because its not that BAD.
I haven't added the velcro yet and one I do I will add a picture of it in the car.  But I tried to get a shot of how the 'underbelly' shows at the seams and folds.

Have a good day :)

Bebe -Muslin bodice

So I made my muslin and here are the best pics I have at the time.  You should note that I have yet to press them.  I wanted to strike while the iron was hot and get these out but at the time of the picture the actual iron was not hot so therefore these were not pressed :-)

My darts.  I know you can't see them evenly.  But what do you think? I am pleased with the bottom darts and should say that when making the side darts I did not sew past the point.  They do seem incomplete.  I think my only issue is that they don't sit exactly the same though sit will on the girls.  David says the girls are crooked so it works out.
Next question is that I may a medium and think it fits fine but ....what do you think?

Off to have some caffeine! Have a good Sunday

Bandana fabric

Bebe...moving forward

Today I took another step forward in making the Bebe dress without the support of Stacye my sewing instructor now friend.  So I have read the instructions again.  Thank you very much.  Plus I have circled  all the pertaining instructions and cut out all the pieces which apply and in this case it appears to be all the pieces.  I am going to keep it intact to the largest size so I can make other sizes if I want and fold down to the appropriate size.  Plus I am going to prep the muslin ( of boring beige) and prepare it for the slaughter.  It feels good to move one step further towards sewing.
I am posting a pic of the fabric I think I am going with.  Still on the fence.

On a different note..the cute little quilt shop in my 'hood is for sale and it scares me that it might close :-(  and David killed a Norway rat trying to eat out of out bird feeder.  GROSS!!!!!!

Ciao for now

I am posting a picture of my fabric choice but as I look at already made ones of the BeBe I am rethinking it.  I am rethinking it because I have noticed that the cut of this dress is so simple that if you chose the wrong fabric it looks homemade.  A more complex or 'sophisticated' fabric gives it that 'well made' look.  So I am back to the chevrons idea.  Maybe Navy blue.
